Book signing & literary dinner – History of Chocolate in York
Yet more good things on their way for York’s chocaholics!
On Good Friday (6th April) Waterstones will be holding a book signing for the History of Chocolate in York with the author Paul Chrystal. The event takes place between 12.00 midday and 2.00 pm. Read our review of this superb book here.
You can find Waterstones at 28-29 High Ousegate, York YO1 8RX – telephone: 01904 628 740.

On the same day (it really is a good Friday for chocolate-lovers) there’s a chocolate-themed literary dinner at the Dean Court Hotel, York. And, as you can’t have too much of a good thing, there will be not one but two much-loved and highly esteemed local authors on hand to sign books and answer questions.

Fiona Shaw is the author of The Sweetest Thing – a historical novel which weaves romance, what it’s like to work in a cocoa factory in York, and many other themes of life in Victorian England. It was Fiona’s debut novel and was given a very good reception on publication. Fiona lives in York and has followed up her initial success with several more highly acclaimed novels.

And, of course, no chocolate-themed York literary dinner would be complete without Paul Chrystal – who will indeed be present.
The two authors will discuss their books during dinner – and this will be a four-course, specially created chocolate tasting menu. The menu has been compiled by Paul Laidlaw, the Head Chef at the Dean Court Hotel’s DCH Restaurant.
The price of the meal is £35 per person. Dress is smart casual.
