Since 1994, each year the idyllic Yorkshire Dales village of Kettlewell has played host to a very special and unusual event, the Kettlewell Scarecrow Festival. The event spans 9 days every August and attracts thousands of visitors from far and wide.

In preparation for the event, villagers spend lots of time making their scarecrows, and when the time comes they create a trail for visitors to follow by positioning their scarecrows throughout the village in hidden corners, gardens, open spaces, and even on the rooftops! A trail of themed clues creates a mystery word, and if you work out the answer you might just win a prize!
And those looking to make a day (or more) of it can amuse themselves by sampling some of the delicious homemade produce that the villagers have prepared for the event.
