Look out for Lost Sheep in Pink Jerseys

Hand beaded pink sheepBetween June and September 2014, visitors to the North York Moors and Yorkshire Coast will be surprised to see a variety (in different forms) of ‘pink sheep’ popping up all over the North York Moors – in shop windows and other areas of villages and various tourism attractions.

Ranging from large sculptured sheep to those in the small format of pairs of earrings, around 200 sheep will be on display as part of the ‘Lost Sheep in Pink Jerseys campaign which will start from Friday 20 June right through until Sunday 20 September 2014.

Across the North York Moors, Howardian Hills (AONB) and the Yorkshire Coast, schools, businesses and individuals have given their backing to this excellent campaign by making ‘pink sheep’. The colour pink was chosen to reflect the beauty and colour of the North York Moors National Park’s heather moorland and 150 PRIZES have already been donated.

She said that the area’s landscapes and wildlife draw crowds to the area but it’s the people, businesses and tourism attractions that make people’s visits truly memorable, which encourage them to come back time after time.

The Lost Sheep in Pink Jerseys campaign, run by the North York Moors Tourism Network (supporting tourism and related businesses, with over 400 people) is sponsored by many local businesses, including: Dalby Forest Lodges, The Raven Hall Country House Hotel, Robin Hood Caravan Park, Bills & Rye, Runswick Bay Caravan & Camping Park, Rosella Cottage, Stylish Stays Luxury Holidays, Trailways of Hawsker and the Youth Hostels Association (YHA).
