Three Yorkshire-based projects with tourism connections have made it through to the final round of the National Lottery Award Scheme (see an earlier blog on this here).
The three worthy (but decidedly NOT dull) projects are the renowned Northern Ballet and Phoenix Dance Theatre (who are going for the Best Arts Project Award), Wentworth Castle & Stainborough Park, and Unfolding the Quilts at the York Quilt Museum (these are both hoping to win Best Heritage Project).
In the Best Arts Project category, Northern Ballet are up against three other contenders. Normally there are only three in each category, but in the previous round two projects shared third place in the votes, so both have gone through.
In the Best Heritage project, there’s a very good chance that the award will come to Yorkshire as there are only three finalists and two of them are from the county.
The public will be able to vote for one of these projects in each category between 2 and 26 September – click here for more details.
All the finalists will take part in the Awards Ceremony, where the winners for each category will be announced, in early November. The Ceremony will be screened on BBC1 at a star-studded event. As well the prestige of an award, the winners will each receive an additional £2,000 towards their project.
