Swinton Park celebrates its 10th birthday this year and, as part of the 2011 celebrations, has launched the new Swinton Park Alfresco Twilight Party which will take place on the evening of Saturday 28 May.

And the following day, Sunday 29 May, the Walking Food Festival will take place during the day.

Combining live music with a gourment barbecue, cocktail bar, real ale bar and circus skills entertainments, the Twilight Party will run from 6pm – 10:30pm.

Bands performing at the party include:

The Conspirators

An exciting acoustic show from local stars The Conspirators. First shooting to fame in 2007 when they hit the top of the US Independent Charts with their track “Turning Green”, they have since been in the UK Radio 1 Indie chart’s top ten and have toured or worked with Fairport Convention, Ocean Colour Scene and Dodgy to name but three!

Currently recording their first album – and it’s hotly anticipated – they will be giving one of the most enjoyable live shows you’re likely to see, so prepare yourself to sing and dance and be completely involved in the gig. Terrific summer tunes performed gloriously – don’t miss it!!

Trio Gitan

Evocative and poignant, reminiscent of Stephane Grappelli and Django Rheinhardt’s hot club music and flavoured with exotic Eastern European gypsy tunes, soulful tangos and classics from the swing era of the great American songbook, Trio Gitan are Andy Lawrenson on the violin, Jack Burge on the acoustic guitar, Rob Steels/Dominic Rivron on double bass. Dynamic, exciting and exotic frenetic swing jazz and atmospheric tangos.

Monster Ceilidh Band

Superb foot-stomping tunes from a Newcastle 4-piece, mixing quirky tunes with beats & attitude. They ignite the dance floor with elegant traditional pieces mixed with riotous rave-like rhythms.

Sunday’s walking festival will consist of a walking culinary trail through the beautifully landscaped parkland, ookery demonstrations, gourmet retail marquee, guided tours of wild edible food growing in the walled garden & the grounds and alfresco kitchens. Championing Yorkshire food, almost all of the ingredients used in the kitchens and cookery demonstrations on the day will be sourced from the surrounding Swinton Estate.

In addition there will be countryside activities and skills, hands-on cooking experiences – try your hand at sausage making or  pigeon plucking – and artists in residence.

Both events cost £5 per person (free for children 3 yrs and under).
