The Baroque Mansion House was built between 1699 and 1712 for Charles Howard, the 3rd Earl of Carlisle to a design by Sir John Vanbrugh and has been the home of the Howard family for over 300 years. It’s also known worldwide as being chosen for the famous movie and TV versions of “Brideshead Revisited”.
