Eden Camp Modern History Theme Museum

Malton

Visit Eden Camp Modern History Museum near Malton in North Yorkshire and be transported back to wartime Britain. This authentic 6 acre site Museum is constructed from the huts of an original Prisoner of War Camp which was built in 1942.

For an excellent family day out, lots of fresh air (in-between weaving in and out of the huts), and a great learning experience, Eden Camp is the original and only Modern History Theme Museum of its kind in the world and is a tribute to the people of World War II (lest we forget). Experience the hardships, drama and humour of those bygone days and take in the smells, sights and sounds of those dangerous years. Each hut tells its own story of this country at war – starting with Hut 1 portraying the rise of Hitler, the birth of the Nazi party and Chamberlain’s  dramatic radio broadcast announcement at 11am on 3rd September 1939, announcing the declaration of war, followed by (Hut 2) The Home Front – finishing with huts 24-29 ‘The Museum within a Museum’.

Why not eat, drink and forget rationing in the Officers Mess Tearooms or the Prisoners Canteen, or  enjoy a drink in the Garrison Cinema Bar?

Eden Camp is located at the Junction A64 York to Scarborough Road and the A169 Malton to Pickering Road.
