Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway

Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway is a ‘must visit’ for all ages. Our steam trains run on Sundays and in the summer months we’re operational every day of the week.

The Railway holds a very large collection of industrial steam locomotives, which have been restored to very high standards and operate some diesel engines, mainly used for shunting and works trains. We hold a large fleet of wagons including open, tank, hopper and engineer wagons too.

Many of our carriages link back to the golden era of rail travel. Travel in style on our historic Stately Trains on selected weekends during July and August.

Both Stations have excellent Gift Shops and provide a mail order service. For refreshments (when not on board) both Stations offer excellent tearoom facilities and have designated picnic areas.

NEW for 2013 – “Evening Eats” trains run throughout July and August. Try our ‘Strawberry Specials’, ‘Barbeque Specials’, ‘Pie & Peas Specials’ and’Fish & Chips Specials’ – you’ll not go hungry on our wonderful journeys through the Dales.
