Located at the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, RHS Harlow Carr invites you to stroll through serene surroundings within this spectacular 58-acre garden, picking up techniques and the latest tips for your own borders along the way - or just unwind with friends and family on a leisurely walk.

Be inspired by the innovative and contemporary planting of the main borders; find out which plants have been chosen by the RHS experts to best suit the tricky growing conditions; and stand back to wonder at the remarkable planting combinations of seasonal flowers, mixed perennials and grasses.

Wander round the Gardens through Time, two centuries of gardening history at the end of which you'll discover the contemporary garden designed by the BBC's Diarmuid Gavin. And glean practical tips including innovative recycling ideas from the recently expanded Kitchen Garden, which is also home to the Harlow Carr chickens.

The wonderfully fragrant Scented Garden focuses on roses, and you can meander along the gorgeous Streamside Garden where you'll find an abundance of unusual and rare plants.

Whilst exploring the gardens, our friendly team of gardeners will often be on hand and they are always willing to chat and share tips.

Children will find an array of fun natural amusements including the Logness Monster, a Log Maze, a Hungry Caterpillar sculpture made from willow through which they can crawl and a fabulous Bird Hide in which to conceal themselves and do a spot of twitching!

Harlow Carr hosts numerous events throughout the year including demonstrations, talks, walks, outdoor theatre, art exhibition, plant fairs, plus 3 times a year their Grow Your Own event helping you learn all about harvesting your own produce. School holidays are packed with nature trails, bushcrafts, activities for the young gardener and nature spotting.

Round off your visit with a trip to the large RHS Shop & Plant Centre, and sample some wonderful cakes in Bettys Café Tea Rooms.
