Sympathetically converted from former farm buildings, these four well-equipped self-catering cottages have retained many of their original features, including exposed brickwork and wooden beams, creating the perfect atmospheric country cottage that is certain to make you feel immediately at home.
Set around a lawned courtyard garden, the cottages are set in a peaceful rural location, and provide a relaxing holiday retreat in a comfortable environment. They are ideally situated between the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Parks with fantastic walking and cycling routes that offer amazing panoramic views of breathtaking scenery. Only three miles away lies the attractive market town of Northallerton.
The cottages themselves are comfortably furnished and tastefully decorated, and provide the essential modern facilities such as dishwashers, washer/dryers and microwave ovens, so you'll never miss the little conveniences of home. Heating and electricity are included in the cost, and linen and towels are provided for guests to ensure a worry-free arrival and departure.
Families with younger children are welcome, and your resident hosts Julie and Jim have made every effort to guarantee that your children's needs are met. Cots and high chairs for toddlers and babies are available free-of-charge if needed, and a separate paddock has been set aside for children to play in, with some play equipment and ample space for games. Additionally, pets are welcome to stay at Hill House Farm, if prior arrangements are made with the hosts, with a large field available for you to walk your dog in.
If you require groceries or food, the market town of Northallerton offers a selection of supermarkets where you can purchase food to prepare back in the cottage. The town also boasts an array of local pubs, cafes and restaurants where you can get a cooked meal if the fancy strikes you.
A wide variety of activities are available to cottage guests, with Kiplin Hall, Mount Grace Priory, Fountains Abbey and Richmond Castle, local places of historic interest, close at hand. Various other places of interest include the Arboretum and Birds of Prey Centre at Thorp Perrow, the Black Sheep Brewery at Masham, and horse racing at Thirsk and Catterick.
For sports enthusiasts, horse riding and fishing are available in the vicinity and the local golf club and driving range is only 1½ miles away. The cycling is also excellent in the area, with many challenging rural routes and bridleways in the Yorkshire Dales or around the Hambleton Hills. The farm provides secure storage for cyclists who bring their bicycles with them, or you can hire bicycles in Northallerton if you prefer.
The cathedral cities of York, Ripon and Durham are within easy travelling distance, by road or rail, and the coast at Whitby or Scarborough is easily accessible.
