Ingrid Flute’s Yorkshire Cottages are based in Whitby (on Yorkshire’s East Coast) and have been providing high quality self-catering accommodation for over 40 years and have exceptional knowledge of the towns and villages where all our cottages are based.
The Yorkshire Coastline is dotted with many quaint and unspoilt fishing villages, lovely market towns and pretty inland and moorland villages. Whether you’re looking for a ‘home from home’ classic cottage within the setting of a quiet North York moorland location, a traditional fisherman’s dwelling or perhaps a plush harbour-side apartment in the heart of the busy port of Whitby overlooking the River Esk, or a maybe a beautiful cosy cottage in one of the pretty coastal bays and villages, Ingrid Flute’s Yorkshire Holiday Cottages will have the perfect cottage or apartment to offer you. Many of our properties are pet-friendly too.
Whitby is a hugely popular, historic and fantastic place to visit and is well known for its famous 199 steps leading from Church Street up to Whitby Abbey which overlooks this historic and popular seaside resort. Whitby is also famous for its connections with Captain Cook, Goth Weekends and Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula’ and its wonderful Regatta and annual Folk Weekend too. Well worth a visit. You’ll want to come back again and again!
Robin Hood’s Bay (six miles south of Whitby) is notorious for its history involving smugglers, press gangs and pirates, with its many narrow alleyways and twisting cobbled streets that behold many secrets and tales of bygone days. Once relying heavily on its fishing industry (hence the many local fishermen’s cottages forming a large part of this pretty and unspoilt village), Robin Hood’s Bay held the largest fishing fleet along the Yorkshire Coast. It constantly attracts many visitors because of its excellent reputation as a traditional fishing village and forms an excellent tourism base for visiting the North York Moors, Scarborough, many other coastal villages such as Staithes, Ravenscar, Runswick Bay and Port Mulgrave. It’s a beachcomber’s paradise with lots of rock pools, giving a fantastic opportunity to discover fascinating shells, fossils, rocks and marine life.
Scarborough has everything for that perfect seaside break. It’s a firm family-favourite for holidays along the East Coast. With lots of nostalgia, amusement arcades, the beach donkeys, beach huts and lots of cafes and restaurants, Scarborough is reputed to be ‘The Queen of the Yorkshire Coast’ and has many lovely villages close by to stay at and explore.
The dramatic North York Moors National Park is on the doorstep with the world-famous North Yorkshire Moors Railway being close-by, and famous Moorland villages such as Goathland and Grosmont (both being TV film locations for “Heartbeat”). A trip to the diverse and beautiful Yorkshire Dales is less than a couple of hour’s drive away which has received much TV coverage from Adrian Edmondson’s ‘The Dales’ programme.
