North Yorkshire Moors Railway

Travel back in time on a steam train on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Trains run throughout the day from mid-March to early November and then on weekends in December. Enjoy 18 miles of some of the most stunning scenery in the country as your journey takes you through the North York Moors National Park. The NYMR links Grosmont, Goathland, Newtondale Halt, Levisham and Pickering. We also run many services back and forth from Whitby on the east coast.

The NYMR is a great family attraction with period stations, tearooms, shops and plenty of car parking and toilets along its route. Dogs are welcome. Our trains all cater for pushchairs and wheelchairs. Special events are held throughout the year. Levisham Station even has an 'Artist in Residence'. Visit the engine sheds where you can see locomotives being restored in preparation for steam at Grosmont. Stop at Goathland, the village called Hogsmeade in the first of the Harry Potter films and also known to many as "Aidensfield" in TV's Heartbeat. The NYMR is an all-weather attraction which recreates history with every train ride.

Many visitors return to us time and time again, taking in the nearby cycle rides and walks, exploring the stations, or visiting Whitby and Pickering.
