Pennysteel Cottage, a former fisherman's cottage dating back to the 1800s, still retains many of original features including oak beams and panels. All of the rooms in the cottage have stunning views over the picturesque harbour with its sandy beach and abundant rock pools. The Cleveland Way long distance footpath passes through the village, and the cliff top and inland walks, make it a perfect base for walking from. It is also near to Whitby and the North York Moors, providing plenty for all the family to see and do.
Staithes is a beautiful little village where the young James Cook first found employment working in the local grocer's shop. The area became a haven for artists and the "Staithes Group" flourished in the early part of the twentieth century. There are some great restaurants and pubs in and near Staithes, as well as local shops offering all that is needed for a perfect holiday.
