Step aboard for a fabulous train journey on the world-famous famous Settle-Carlisle Railway, with trains running from Leeds through to Settle in the Yorkshire Dales and on to Carlisle, stopping off at many stations en route.
Calling at all stations … from Leeds to Bradford, Keighley, Skipton, then on to Settle - Horton-in-Ribblesdale - Ribblehead - Dent - Garsdale - Kirkby Stephen - Appleby - Langwathby - Lazonby - Armathwaite and historic Carlisle. Travelling on the Settle-Carlisle Line offers you one of the most promising scenic journeys in the country.
Settle Station, which opened in 1876, features gothic style buildings. Originally 3 stations served the Settle area. Settle Junction closed in 1877, the same year that one was renamed Giggleswick. Good views of the local landscape can be viewed from this Station’s footbridge including the famous Pen-y-ghent, original railway workers houses and the Town Hall (now the local Tourist Information Centre).
The train stops off at lots of very pretty stations (listed above) where you can enjoy fresh air, shopping, excellent beverages and eats too.
Carlisle Station is mainline. Built in 1847 the citadel station was designed by William Tite who was also renowned for designing the London Stock Exchange. Carlisle is the Gateway City to the western stretch of the world-famous Hadrian’s Wall. A bus (No AD 122!) runs every day throughout the summer and departs outside Carlisle Station, taking you to the famous Wall and fascinating museums and Roman forts.

Settle Station is closed on Christmas Day and Boxing day, otherwise open all year.
