Sutton Bank National Park Centre

The Sutton Bank National Park Centre is situated only 6 miles east of the market town of Thirsk, but it could be hundreds of miles from the nearest town in its quiet and tranquil setting. It's a perfect place to discover just why the North York Moors National Park is so exceptional - and also to take in the panorama that world famous vet, James Herriot named "England's finest view".

An interactive exhibition entitled 'Window on the Park' teaches visitors old and young to unravel the many clues left over the years by the striking natural landscape. Admission is free of charge.

The feeding station, with interactive camera, allows nature lovers to get up-close and personal with the bird population of the Centre and during the spring months a live webcam supplies amazing images of the kestrels and barn owls nesting.

The Centre provides an excellent starting point for exploring the more of the Moors - with cycling routes and walking trails for visitors of all abilities and ages, including a walk to the renowned White Horse of Kilburn. You can also catch a Moorsbus from the Centre. The Moorsbus network operates throughout the heart of the North York Moors and is a great way to get around (see Facilities below)
