White Scar Cave

Ingleton

The longest show cave in Britain, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park deep beneath Ingleborough Hill

White Scar Cave is the longest show cave in the country. It has thousands of stalactites and underground waterfalls and streams. The curious cave formations include the Arum Lily, the Devil's Tongue, the Witch's Fingers, and the remarkably lifelike Judge's Head. We have trained guides to lead visitors along the well-lit paths and explain the features. The highlight of the tour is the 200,000 year old Battlefield Cavern, which is decorated with thousands of stalactites. This is one of the largest caverns in Britain with a length of over 330 feet (100 metres) and a roof soaring in places to 100 feet (30 metres).

Our Visitor Centre with its alpine-style café and eco-friendly turf roof has sea views over the Dales. The well-stocked shop sells jewellery, fine rock and mineral specimens and much more besides. Spectacularly located in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, White Scar Cave is only 17 miles from the M6 motorway.
