York
Reputedly York is the most haunted city in England. York Dungeon is a ghoulish experience to behold. Discover more about Dick Turpin, Guy Fawkes, the ghosts of York, the Vikings, implements of torture and the black death.
Take a spooky 70 minute journey through over 2,000 years of York’s horrible history. The York Dungeon located in the heart of the historic City of York will provide thrill, chills, shocks, scares and laughter throughout your visit.
The York Dungeon collects together an amazing cast of special effects, theatrical actors, excellent stage sets and scenery in a totally unique and highly charged, exciting walk through experience. Hear, see, touch and smell replications of people who walked the earth hundreds of years ago and things they used in their daily lives.
Follow (if you dare) York’s darkest history via 8 live actors and 11 live shows. Based on real history, be prepared to come face-to-face with strange, sinister spectres from York’s gruesome past including Dick Turpin, the infamous highwayman, and the traitorous Parliament plotter, Guido Fawkes who was born in the Guy Fawkes Hotel (High Petergate) and baptised in the Church of St. Michael le-Belfrey, located between the Guy Fawkes Hotel and the City’s famous York Minster.
Our live shows include: The Plague (spoils, boils and a visit to the resident plague doctor), Guy Fawkes (remember, remember), Ghost of York (you’ll not drink alone in the Golden Fleece), Eric Bloodaxe, Dick Turpin (for holdups ahead!), The Execution (see how they roll!), Witches (hear them cackle as they crackle), Clifford’s Tower (meet the strange Benedictine Monk) and much more.
